Cesar is a ♂ male name.
Cesar is a form of Caesar, which was originally a Roman cognomen, that was popular with the Julier family (see Gaius Iulius Caesar).
It is not conclusively clarified, from which Latin term the name Cesar derived, but probably from “caedere”, which which means “to cut out/to hit”. According to a legend, Gaius Iulius Caesar was supposedly born by Caesarean section, which is why he was called Caesar. Cesar therefore means “the one cut out of the womb”.
