At CharliesNames, we take the protection and security of your data very seriously. Transparency and control over your personal information matter to us.

On this page, you’ll find all the information and steps needed to delete your data – as easily as possible. Because your privacy and autonomy are our top priorities.

🔑 Does CharliesNames have an account system?

In short: No.
We deliberately chose not to use classic accounts with email, passwords, or third-party logins. Instead, we use anonymous authentication – no registration required.

When you first open the app, we generate a unique, pseudonymized ID based on your encrypted device ID. This lets us store your preferences without collecting personal information.

🔎 What data does CharliesNames store?

You can find all information about the data stored by CharliesNames in our App Privacy Policy and Website Privacy Policy.

🗑️ Are my data deleted automatically when I uninstall the app?

Locally stored data (cache) is deleted automatically. Data on our server remains – because technically, we can’t tell whether the app was uninstalled temporarily or permanently.

How to delete everything for real is explained in the next section.

🗑️ How can I delete all my data / my “account”?

Here’s how:

  1. Open CharliesNames on your smartphone.
  2. Go to “Your Data” in the menu.
  3. Tap on “Reset.”
  4. Choose “Delete personal data” and “Forget all my ratings.”
  5. ✅ Done – everything’s erased

🗑️ Can I delete only my ratings or only my data?

Absolutely:

  1. Open CharliesNames.
  2. Go to “Your Data.”
  3. Tap on “Reset.”
  4. Choose “Delete personal data” or “Forget all my ratings.”
  5. ✅ Done

📱 What if I no longer have the app installed?

Without the app, we can’t identify your device – we don’t use classic login, but a unique anonymous ID.

⏱️ What happens if I don’t delete my data?

We get it – people try out lots of apps and forget to delete their data. That’s why we’ll take care of it.

If you don’t use the app for three years, we’ll automatically delete your personal data.

You don’t need to do a thing.

📲 How do I transfer my data to a new phone?

Every new device gets its own unique and pseudonymized ID. There’s no direct link to your old data, but you can transfer it:

  1. Open CharliesNames on your new phone.
  2. Go to “Your Data.”
  3. Tap “Transfer data.”
  4. Enter the UserHash from your old phone.
  5. Tap “Transfer data” and confirm.
  6. ✅ Done
